As some of you will be closing up your holiday home for the six week shutdown, here's our tips for you. Enjoy the six weeks, lets hope the weather isn't to bad.
Your park may be open until January, but it is wise to get ready for the end of school holidays for winter. Don't get caught out, be prepared. 1. Turn off your water every time you leave, a burst pipe causes mayhem. 2. Open the taps and shower head and remember to open the plugholes. We have seen water flowing out of caravans before now! 3. Use antifreeze in your toilet bowl & plugholes. Saves a break if the severe weather hits. 4 Remove your TVs and anything else that can very quickly be taken from your Holiday home. We had the experience of hearing the neighbouring caravans having doors forced open and the only things stolen were TV sets! 5 Holiday homes are not as bad these days, but you may still protect from condensation. Either a gallon bucket with salt in the bottom, or these kits you can buy in most supermarkets. Place a couple of them evenly in your home. From Christmas until 1st March, you should be fine if using a bucket. 6 Remove any packets of food. Lumps of sugar or flour is never nice to come back too! 7 Make sure you secure your outside storage. Very easy to break in whilst the long nights are here. Also consider removing your table & chairs from outside. They really don't look good on your neighbours roof. 8 Drain down your central heating!!!! If you use your parks service, you have a receipt to prove it if you do have a problem. If you are draining down your system yourself, check it thoroughly. You can buy kits of websites which help you get all the water out of the system. Enjoy the six week break & see you March 1st!
